Two Classic Traveller Services
As I thinker with Classic Traveller, I think that later versions lose something by re-framing the "Prior Service" tables as a universal background system. It's interesting and provocative that each of the 5 original options is framed as a service -- the world of CT is one where adventurers have been part of (and were possibly drafted into) a hierarchical military or quasi-military service.1
All this is to say that if one were to add to the lifepaths, I think it's most interesting to extend this theme to encompass other rigid institutions (of those in Citizens of The Imperium, Bureaucrat and Diplomat work best, imo).
For my sector, Odradek's Drift, there are two additional services one can apply to, though they are not eligible for the draft. Neither one is likely to turn out a well-rounded adventurer.2
Castalian Order
When the world is at peace, when all things are tranquil and all men obey their superiors in all their courses, then music can be perfected. When desires and passions do not turn into wrongful paths, music can be perfected. Perfect music has its cause. It arises from equilibrium. Equilibrium arises from righteousness, and righteousness arises from the meaning of the cosmos. Therefore one can speak about music only with a man who has perceived the meaning of the cosmos.

Thank you to MTB of Says Who? for suggesting "Teaching" as a Castalian skill.↩
