The Littlest Brown Book: Table-ready Version
The Littlest Brown Book has been updated on Itch and on Lulu.
New content:
- Brand new, stunning cover art by Chaoclypse (in the printed version on Lulu; if printing at home, I've provided a print-friendly white background version with the booklet version).
- Chainmail jousting rules, laid out on a single page.
- Monsters whose stats aren't given in the LBBs now have stats instead of '??'.
- Basic stats for 'extra' monsters suggested in the LBBs: Androids, Cyclopes, Titans, Gelatinous Cubes, & Robots, with some additional detail devoted to robots.
- Descriptions of the Barsoomian creatures in the monster list, including minimalist rules for radium rifles.
- Settlement size table, adapted from 1973 draft.
- 20 dungeon trick & trap ideas inspired by the LBBs & Greyhawk.
- Gem & Jewelry tables expanded to generate type as well as value (value probabilities remain the same).
- An unambiguous way to calculate XP adjustments for the house rules appendix.
Playability enhancements:
- The Chainmail combat procedure that was previously a suggested house rule has been moved up to the Combat chapter.
- MU & Cleric spells now appear at the start of Chapter 2 so players don't have to flip past monsters & magic items to find their spell lists.
- Spell names now appear in italics.
Minor fixes:
- The visibly discolored backgrounds for transparent images in the printed version's cover should be solved (pending the arrival of my test copy).
- Emoji formatting looks slightly nicer.
- Save emojis used when saves referenced in spell & monster descriptions.
- Lots of tiny typo fixes & clarity edits.
- Pagination is generally neater with more sections aligned to single-page spreads.
This update marks the end of the main development cycle for the core Littlest Brown Book. I'll definitely push out updates to correct any glaring typos or errors I've introduced, but my focus will shift to writing Supplement -I: Hic Sunt Dracones (Chainmail clone, domain rules, naval combat), Supplement I: Stone Head Enigma (house rules, useful tables), and Murdicog's Manse (a "megadungeon of modest magnitude" formatted to print at the same size as the LstBB).
